Our department consists of four distinct programs that empower students through academic, cultural, and social experiences that prepare and enhance their success in higher education. Programs include intensive summer components as well as activities that occur throughout the academic year.

Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded TRIO program that prepares 6th - 12th grade students in Akron area schools and adults for postsecondary education.
Strive Toward Excellence Program (STEP) is an endowed college-preparatory program for 7th - 8th grade students from Akron area schools. Students meeting criteria are eligible for a scholarship to The University of Akron.
Upward Bound Classic (UBC) is a federally funded TRiO program which prepares 9th - 12th grade students in targeted Akron Public Schools for postsecondary education. UBC Fact Sheet
Upward Bound Math/Science (UBMS) and Pre-Engineering is a federally funded TRIO program which prepares 9th - 12th grade students in targeted Akron Public Schools for postsecondary education. Participants should have a strong interest in math, science or engineering.
