Overview

Electrical and electronic engineering technology is at the core of most modern equipment, from cell phones and computers to power generation and manufacturing facilities. Our program uses hands-on lab learning to prepare students for careers with the latest technologies and their applications.

Graduates of our associate degree program can continue into our bachelor’s program at The University of Akron or start careers in industry. They work in a variety of fields, including power distribution, industrial controls, electronics, and technical management.

Admissions Requirements

  • Students who meet The University of Akron’s admission requirements and choose engineering as their major are directly admitted into the College

  • If you're coming from high school, your high school records will help determine the best first-semester courses for you

Career Outcomes

Our graduates take on a variety of technician, technologist, and engineering roles across the electrical and electronic industries. Many have been placed at companies like FirstEnergy, Bosch, American Electric Power, Ward Jet, and Timken Steel. Demand for electronic technicians is strong now and expected to grow.

Career opportunities for electronic technicians include:

  • Computer Technician
