Overview
The Certificate in Field Archaeology prepares students for careers in cultural resource management (CRM) – a $1B U.S. industry and the fastest-growing area of archaeology. Through coursework, laboratory and field training, students gain practical experience in archaeological survey and excavation methods, historical research, state and federal compliance and preservation laws, CRM workplace protocols, and training in advanced technology (geophysical survey methods, GPS, and GIS). This stand-alone certificate is ideal for those seeking hands-on preparation and credentials for employment in public archaeology.
Admissions Requirements
The Certificate in Field Archaeology is open to all students – no enrollment in an undergraduate degree program is required. Students must meet the general admissions requirements of The University of Akron.
