Overview
The Certificate in Applied Community Engagement cultivates knowledge, attitudes, and skills that lead to effective and equitable community engagement practice, whether required in employment or desired in civic life. Through transdisciplinary opportunities for applied problem-solving in collaboration with diverse stakeholders and community partners, students develop and nurture skills in creative thinking, communication, compassion, equity and justice, partnership building, and project management. The goal is for students to tangibly impact their local community through collaboration to address social problems.
3 credits of foundational coursework on community engagement principles taught by faculty and community experts that bring diverse and transdisciplinary perspectives via online, asynchronous, 5-week core courses.
Options to use community-based courses in your major to fulfill certain Certificate requirements
Access to unique courses like [Un]classes, paid internships, and independent study for Certificate credit.

• Sophomore academic standing, with a GPA of at least 2.50
