Overview

This certificate is designed for both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking undergraduate students. The certificate is completely online to prepare students for careers in the construction industry as field inspectors and first-line foremen working under the supervision of a project manager or superintendent.

Admissions Requirements

  • Students who meet The University of Akron’s admission requirements and choose engineering as their major are directly admitted into the College

  • If you're coming from high school, your high school records will help determine the best first-semester courses for you

  • Required courses must be completed with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 overall for the certificate to be awarded

Career Outcomes

Individuals working in the field of construction engineering technologies use knowledge of construction methods, business operations and management skills to support construction projects. They work on residential or commercial buildings, bridges, roads, dams, and wastewater treatment systems.

Learn Through Experience

Our engineering students learn through experience. Our famed co-op program, one of the oldest in the country, provides students with paid industry experience. On average, students earn $47K over three co-op rotations, all while completing their degree. Within six months of graduation, our 2024 College graduates launched careers, pursued graduate school, or entered military service, with an average starting salary of $72K.
