Overview
This Geographic and Land Information Systems Certificate can be earned independently of a degree. It prepares you for entry-level roles as a GIS Technician by teaching the basics of geospatial data and digital mapping. You will gain hands-on experience using GIS software to manage and analyze geographic information.
Admissions Requirements
All students who meet the minimum requirements for admittance into The University of Akron and intend to major in engineering are accepted into the College.
If you are coming directly from high school, your high school records determine which first semester classes are right for you.

Our engineering students learn through experience. Our famed co-op program, one of the oldest in the country, provides students with paid industry experience. On average, students earn $47K over three co-op rotations, all while completing their degree. Within six months of graduation, our 2024 College graduates launched careers, pursued graduate school, or entered military service, with an average starting salary of $72K.
