Overview
Financial Management is about more than numbers. It’s about understanding how money moves through organizations and using financial principles to meet real-world goals. Through rigorous coursework and applied learning, you’ll gain practical experience managing assets, analyzing financial performance, and navigating financial markets.
Our program is immersive and career-focused. You’ll build a strong business foundation while developing advanced financial skills through courses like Financial Reporting, Investments, Financial Markets and Institutions, and Advanced Portfolio Management. Classroom learning is reinforced with hands-on opportunities, including internships and consulting projects made possible through our close partnerships with local and regional businesses.
A Financial Management degree from The University of Akron opens doors across the financial industry. You’ll learn from accomplished faculty members who bring industry insight into the classroom and are committed to your success. Outside of class, you’ll connect with peers and professionals through student organizations, career fairs, and networking events—building relationships that last well beyond graduation.
Along the way, you’ll receive personalized academic advising to support your goals—whether that means entering the workforce after graduation or accelerating your education through our combined degree option.
Dual Degree Opportunities
As a Financial Management major at The University of Akron, you can accelerate your education through our combined B.B.A. in Financial Management and M.S. in Economics pathway. Qualified students can earn both degrees in just five years, gaining advanced analytical, quantitative, and economic insight. This accelerated option prepares you for competitive, high-paying roles in finance and investment while saving time and money in the long run.
