Overview
The Undergraduate Certificate in Asian Studies offers a multidisciplinary path to explore the history, languages, and cultures of Asia. You will gain in-depth training that enhances any major and prepares you for careers in education, law, business, public history, healthcare, and more. With opportunities for language study, electives across multiple departments, and even study abroad, the certificate equips you to bring valuable international perspectives to your profession.
Admissions Requirements
The certificate is open to all current undergraduate students in good standing.
Non-degree seeking students may also enroll to pursue professional development or personal enrichment. Students must meet admission requirements to the University of Akron.
To complete the certificate, students must:
Complete two years of a Middle Eastern language (Arabic offered at UA, or equivalent proficiency at FS-1/U.S. Dept. of State level).
Earn 15 credits of approved electives from at least two departments.
Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in certificate coursework.
