Overview
The Undergraduate Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies gives you the chance to explore one of the world’s most dynamic and influential regions. Through language study, history, politics, culture, and even study abroad, you’ll gain the knowledge and perspective to better understand global issues and diverse communities. The certificate is a flexible option that adds an international dimension to your education.
Admissions Requirements
The certificate is open to all current undergraduate students in good standing.
Non-degree seeking students may also enroll to pursue professional development or personal enrichment. Students must meet admission requirements to the University of Akron.
To complete the certificate, students must:
Complete two years of a South or East Asian language (Chinese and Japanese offered at UA, or equivalent proficiency at FS-1/U.S. Dept. of State level).
Earn 15 credits of approved electives from at least two departments.
Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in certificate coursework.
