Overview

The accounting field is full of exciting opportunities — and it's expected to grow faster than the average occupation through 2033. Stand out from other applicants with an accounting degree from The University of Akron.

Our program is immersive. You’ll build a strong business foundation, develop key technical skills, and gain real-world accounting experience. You’ll study with accomplished faculty members who are passionate about teaching. And you’ll network with industry professionals through internships, career fairs and campus visits. Outside of the classroom, accounting majors connect with peers through events and student orgs, including the School of Accountancy’s nationally recognized, and award-winning Beta Alpha Psi honors organization.

Along the way, you will receive personalized academic advising to help you reach your individual career goals, whether you’re looking to pursue your CPA license, want to work in corporate accounting or find a financial role with a nonprofit or government agency.

Dual Degree Opportunities

As an undergraduate student in accounting at The University of Akron, you can also boost your employment opportunities and earning potential with one of our accelerated programs (Master of Taxation or Master of Science in Accountancy). You’ll graduate with a bachelor’s AND master’s degree in less time — while preparing to sit for the CPA licensure exam. This saves you time and money in the long run.

Admissions Requirements

The University of Akron Bulletin acts as a guide for degree requirements, however official requirements are established at the time of transfer and admission to the degree-granting college. Once enrolled, students should refer to the degree progress report which is definitive for graduation requirements.
