Overview
The University of Akron’s surveying program prepares you for a technical and professional career in surveying through classroom, lab and real-world experiences.
You’ll learn to manage geospatial data using advanced tools like laser scanners, drones, satellite positioning, ground penetrating radar and robotics. Taught by licensed professional surveyors, the program shows you how to apply math, law and map design to solve complex boundary problems and develop the skills of a land “detective.”
Our ABET-accredited BS in Surveying and Mapping meets the academic requirements for professional surveyor licensure in Ohio and nearly every state.

Learn Through Experience
Our engineering students learn through experience. Our famed co-op program, one of the oldest in the country, provides students with paid industry experience. On average, students earn $47K over three co-op rotations, all while completing their degree. Within six months of graduation, our 2024 College graduates launched careers, pursued graduate school, or entered military service, with an average starting salary of $72K.
