Overview
Today’s music world needs more than performers, it needs creative professionals who understand the business behind the art. This degree combines a solid foundation in music with courses in business technology, grant writing, and nonprofit management. You’ll build a versatile skill set that prepares you for careers in arts administration, music entrepreneurship, or any role where music and business intersect.
Admissions Requirements
To be accepted as a music major, both freshmen and transfer students must successfully complete an audition on their major applied instrument, complete the Undergraduate Placement Examination in Music Theory, and be evaluated in keyboard skills.
Career Outcomes
Graduates of this program are prepared for careers that blend creativity with business strategy. Many go on to work in arts administration, event production, marketing, or nonprofit leadership. Others pursue roles in artist management, music publishing, or entrepreneurial ventures. This degree also provides an excellent foundation for graduate study including The University of Akron’s own Master of Arts in Arts Administration.
