Overview
The Public Communication minor helps students build essential skills in written and verbal advocacy. Through coursework in communication theory, rhetoric, and persuasive speaking, students learn to craft impactful messages for public audiences.
Admissions Requirements
Students must meet the general admissions requirements for the University of Akron.
Students majoring in Communication Studies cannot minor in Public Communication.
Career Outcomes
Students who complete the Public Communication minor are well prepared for careers that require persuasive speaking, critical thinking, and message strategy. Graduates commonly pursue law school, graduate programs, or work in public affairs, government, lobbying, nonprofit organizations, or advocacy campaigns. The minor also complements communication-focused roles in politics and media.
