Overview
A computer science degree from The University of Akron prepares you for a wide range of careers in this fast-growing field. Our curriculum builds strong problem-solving skills through the use of software and modern computer systems. You'll develop core competencies in object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, computer systems software design and engineering, and operating systems. Our computer networking option gives you the tools to help organizations design, maintain and secure both internal and external networks.

Career Outcomes
Graduates have a wide range of career opportunities, including program developer, IT manager, web developer and app developer. Learn Through Experience
Our engineering students learn through experience. Our famed co-op program, one of the oldest in the country, provides students with paid industry experience. On average, students earn $47K over three co-op rotations, all while completing their degree. Within six months of graduation, our 2024 College graduates launched careers, pursued graduate school, or entered military service, with an average starting salary of $72K.
