Legacy Scholarship

The Legacy Scholarship supports full-time undergraduate students who are children, grandchildren, or legal dependents of University of Akron alumni. Established by the Alumni Association in 2001, the scholarship has awarded more than $300,000 to 300+ students, helping generations of Zips continue their UA journey.

Zippy Program Support

Zippy is the heart of Zips pride, bringing energy and excitement to campus, community events, and game days. Your gift helps support the mascot program through costume maintenance, training, travel, appearances, and other operational needs, ensuring Zippy continues inspiring students, alumni, and fans for years to come.

James R. and Phyllis C. Berry Zippy Endowed Scholarship

The James R. and Phyllis C. Berry Zippy Endowed Scholarship provides financial support to the students who proudly serve as Zippy. Established in honor of longtime UA supporters James and Phyllis Berry, this scholarship recognizes leadership, school spirit, and dedication while helping future Zippy ambassadors succeed both on campus and in the classroom.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Enhancement Fund

The Fraternity and Sorority Life Enhancement Fund strengthens the student experience by supporting leadership development, recruitment, retention, educational programming, and professional growth opportunities. Your gift helps create meaningful experiences that prepare students to lead on campus, in their communities, and throughout their careers.

The Legacy Scholarship is funded in part by UA-branded Ohio license plates. UA plates cost an additional $35. Of that, $25 goes directly to the Legacy Scholarship Fund.
