CPT Joseph Carothers

CPT Joseph Carothers was born in Sharon, PA and grew up in Transfer, PA. He enlisted in the Army as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist in January 2011. He commissioned in July 2018 upon graduating from the Army’s Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA. He holds a MA in Criminal Justice and a BA in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

He has deployed to Afghanistan and completed an operational deployment to Chad.

His military education includes Basic Combat Training, Explosive Ordnance Disposal School, Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Ordnance Basic Officer Leaders Course, Logistics Captain’s Career Course, Advanced Situational Awareness Training, Combatives Level 4, Joint Nuclear EOD Course, and Theater Nuclear Operations Course.

His awards include: The Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Achievement Medal (SOLC), The Army Good Conduct Medal (2 Knots), National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal (1 star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2), Overseas Service Ribbon, The NATO Medal, Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge.

CPT Carothers has been married to his wonderful wife Katie for 13 years, they have three beautiful little girls: Nora (9), Addisyn (7), and Harper (3).
