Biography
Laura Vinnedge earned an M. F. A. in painting from the University of Notre Dame in 1992 after receiving a B. S. in Art Education from Western Michigan University. She began teaching painting and figurative drawing at The University of Akron in 1999. Previously, she held the James and Marian Abromsom Memorial Visual Arts Chair at Jay County Arts Council (Portalnd, IN) and was a visiting assistant professor of painting and drawing at Ball State University.
She has an extensive national and regional exhibition record, has work in several institutional and private collections, and has received numerous awards and recognition for her work including an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Excellence Fellowship. In her most recent work Vinnedge questions the efficacy of a seemingly wholesale adoption of chemically enhanced living and the resulting impact on our environments and especially, our bodies.
