Biography
Anthony Samangy has an extensive career in visual communication design primarily in the area of interactivity and "motionography." He has worked professionally since 1996 creating interactive user experiences, informational designs and motion graphics. His clients function at all professional levels in many markets and have included: Thomson, Eaton Corp, Bridgestone/Firestone, Hewlett Packard, Colliers International, University Hospitals, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum and PBS.
Mr. Samangy’s primary research since 2008 while at The University of Akron focuses on designing user experiences through time-based or interactive narrative. He has six years prior teaching experience as adjunct instructor at Kent State University. He currently teaches web, interactive, motion and other related infographic and typographic design courses at The University of Akron.
Mr. Samangy has produced several short films, music videos and animations that have garnered awards and selection to many festivals and exhibits locally, nationally and internationally. He has two Telly awards (2006, 2009) and screened in NY, LA, London, Melbourne and many other cities. His exhibit history includes: IngenuityFest (2013), Athens International Film + Video Festival (2010), Tiburon International Film Festival (2010), Queens International Film Festival (2009, 2006), Melbourne Underground Film Festival (2009, 2006), New York International Independent Film & Video Festival (2009), Hollywood DV Festival (2005).
Mr. Samangy collaborated in creating the COLLIDER Exhibition Series. COLLIDER examines the impact, implications and inspiration of the phenomenon generally categorized under the umbrella term New Media. Mr. Samangy has curated 6 successful COLLIDER exhibitions since 2009. He is a member of ACM, SIGGRAPH, and UCDA.
