Peter Blazunas ’11
Title: Assistant Vice President, Concentric Energy Advisors
Dept/Program: Department of Economics Advisory Board
Professional & Academic Experience
Peter Blazunas is currently an Assistant Vice President at Concentric Energy Advisors, a firm that specializes in management consulting and financial advisory services with an exclusive focus on the North American energy industry. In his current role, Peter primarily serves as a pricing expert witness for large investor-owned electric and gas utilities in complex regulatory proceedings before state regulatory commissions. Prior to joining Concentric Energy Advisors, he managed a team at Exelon Corp. responsible for the cost of service, revenue allocation, rate design, revenue decoupling, and rate administration functions for Exelon’s Pepco Maryland and District of Columbia jurisdictions. Peter began his career as a regulatory analyst at FirstEnergy Corp. in 2012. He has testified as an expert witness before the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the Maryland Public Service Commission, the Delaware Public Service Commission, and the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia.
Peter holds a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Dayton and The University of Akron, respectively, and has taught undergraduate Economics at The University of Akron and Cuyahoga Community College. He also currently teaches Economic Decision Making for Business for The University of Akron's Weekend Professional MBA Program.
Peter's career has been directed towards the development of utility prices. The nature of the utility industry, however, prevents a straightforward approach to setting these prices. Instead, he must advocate on behalf of his clients in regulatory proceedings that balance technical ratemaking and economic principles with broader policy-based considerations. His job lies at the intersection of law, economics, accounting, and public policy, and his graduate and undergraduate education in Economics provided him with the analytical and critical thinking skills needed to continually advance in an intellectually demanding field.
Peter resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He joined the Economics Advisory Board in 2024.
