Travel
The Cummings Center is located at 73 S. College Street, Akron, Ohio 44325-4302. Local bus service is provided by Akron Metro. Stops closest to the Cummings Center are at Mill & College; E. Market & College; and Main & E. Bowery St. Further route details are available from Akron Metro.
Parking
Free visitor parking is available in the lot directly adjacent to our building, which includes four visitor spots and one accessible parking spot near the front door. Three additional free visitor spaces are available in Lot 30, on the corner of College & Market Streets.
Additional paid parking is available in Lot 30, as well as Lot 40 (on Mill Street, just a short walk from the Cummings Center). Visitors must scan the ParkMobile QR code and enter their vehicle license plate. Additional metered parking is available on College Street. Metered parking is $1/hour and is operated by the City of Akron via the Flowbird app.
Pavement from Lot 30 and metered parking may be uneven, and people with limited mobility should exercise caution.
Food & Beverage
Food and beverages, including water bottles, are not permitted in the Museum, Archives, or Institute galleries. Beverages may be left at the Admissions Desk.
Bags & Luggage
Backpacks, luggage, and other large bags are not permitted in the Museum or Institute galleries and must be left with the Admissions Desk.
Researchers visiting the Archives will be assigned a locker upon arrival for storage of coats, bags, etc.
Wheelchairs & Strollers
The Museum, Archives, and Institute galleries are all accessible by wheelchair. A wheelchair accessible ramp is located on the northeast side of the building, near the main entrance. The National Museum of Psychology is housed on the ground floor, and an interior elevator provides access to the Archives and the Institute galleries. A wheelchair is also kept on-site and is available free of charge to visitors.
Select interactive displays may not be fully wheelchair accessible. Assistance is available to access the content of these displays.
Standard strollers are welcome in the Museum and Institute galleries.
Audiovisual
The Museum and Institute galleries include a variety of video displays. Open captioning is included for all spoken audio in these displays.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome in the Museum and Institute galleries.
Restrooms
Gendered multi-stall restrooms are available on the ground floor, in the Museum. Multi-stall restrooms include a wheelchair-accessible stall.
Single-stall, gender neutral restrooms are available on the fourth floor, near the Institute galleries. The fourth floor also contains a wheelchair-accessible single-stall restroom with a baby changing station.
