Welcome to the Department of Economics! Our programs emphasize applying economic theory and data analysis to real-world challenges in business and public policy. Our students build a strong analytical foundation and develop empirical and quantitative skills that prepare them for careers in business, government, and law. Every year, incoming and continuing Economics students can apply for the Lung-ho Lin Memorial Scholarship and the Dilley Family Endowed Scholarship in Economics.
Incoming Business Data Analytic majors can also apply for College of Business Scholarships.

As the capstone experience for the major, economics students complete an independent research project in which they apply statistical and data analysis techniques to investigate a real-world economic question.
Our students' research has earned regional and national recognition through best paper awards, presentations at professional conferences, and publications in peer-reviewed economics journals. Explore some of our students' award-winning capstone projects.
The Ohio Economic Forum is an annual event hosted by the Department of Economics that brings together leading economists, business executives, policymakers, and community leaders to discuss the most pressing issues shaping Ohio's economy. Through keynote presentations and expert panel discussions, the Forum provides valuable insights into the economic challenges and opportunities facing Northeast Ohio and beyond.
Established in 1998, the Grunberg Speaker Series began with an inaugural lecture by Nobel Laureate Herbert A. Simon. The series celebrates the legacy of the late Emile Grunberg, Professor Emeritus and internationally respected scholar in economic methodology and the philosophy of science.
