Biography
Dr. Piya Chatterjee is an Assistant Professor of Practice, and Intervention Specialist, at the LeBron James Family Foundation School of Education, The University of Akron. She specializes in intervention program evaluations, and collaboration with community stakeholders in understanding student outcomes in culturally sensitive ways, mindful of diverse backgrounds while bringing data-driven ideas to action. Dr. Chatterjee’s primary research interests include inclusion perceptions, attitudes, and preparedness perceptions of intervention specialists, and educational equity and gap closures. She explores collaborative efforts among community partners to alleviate challenges and barriers to the success of students with exceptionalities. She has worked extensively with the Out of School Time (OST) providers to help provide PK-12 students with extended inclusion and equity-focused learning opportunities outside of school hours. Dr. Chatterjee was the Senior Research Associate with Summit Education Initiative, Akron; and a State Board-Certified educator in India for several years before joining UA
