Partnerships

Education majors gather around large letters that say I PROMISE

Imagine a learning community where future teachers don't just learn about education--they live it all day!  You'll work among experienced educators, observe effective teaching, and develop meaningful relationships with students and staff. The I Promise School Learning Community is open to any teacher education major across all licensure areas.  You will spend the day at the I Promise School and complete the following three required courses:

  • EDCI 223-602 Urban Youth Mentoring TTH 8:45am-10:00am
  • EDFN 200-602 Introduction to Education TTH 10:45am-12:00pm
  • EDIS 225-602 Introduction to Exceptionalities TTH 1:15-2:30pm

In addition to the courses, you will have opportunities for additional learning experiences such as brown bag lunches, guest speakers, and extended student engagement. Students who join this learning community are expected to stay at the I Promise School the entire day on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Talk with your advisor about how to enroll.  For additional questions contact Dr. Susan Kushner Benson snk@uakron.edu.
