Biography

Dr. Lillard joined the Chemical, Biomolecular, and Corrosion Engineering department at UA in 2011. From 1995 to 2011 he worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the Materials Science & Technology Division. Dr. Lillard is a Fellow of the Society with NACE International, 2010. He is the Principle Investigator for "Understanding and Mitigating the Threat of AC Induced Corrosion on Buried Pipelines", with the funding agency of US DOT-PHMSA Competitive Academic Agreement Program. He is also the Principal Investigator of "Real-Time In Situ X-ray Tomography Imaging of Crevice Corrosion"  with the funding agency of DoD USAA.

Research

Pitting corrosion of stainless steels and aluminum alloys; Crevice corrosion of nickel super alloys;  Passivity and dielectric properties of oxide films on stainless steels, aluminum and nickel alloys; Pipeline corrosion including AC corrosion ,cathodic protection and soil properties;  Galvanic corrosion; Corrosion in LWR reactors; Modeling of corrosion processes.
