Biography

Dr. Chase has been with the Chemical, Biomolecular and Corrosion Engineering department at UA since 1985. He is a proud Zip class of '78 and '89. He worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers from 1978 to 1983. He is a Fellow of the American Filtration and Separations Society. Dr. Chase currently serves as the Director of Research Initiatives for UA, along with his duties as a faculty member in the College of Engineering. He received an Honorable Mention Alice Hamilton Award from NIOSH in the Methods and Lab Category. In 2011 he was inducted into the National Academy of Inventors. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Filtration and Separations Society.

Research

Multiphase transport phenomena, filtration, electrospinning, nanofibers, gas-liquid and liquid-liquid coalescence filtration, flows through porous media, droplet motions on fibers and fiber mats.
