Biography

Dr. Kern is the co-author of Ohio: A History of the Buckeye State, now in its second edition (Wiley Publishing, April 2023); and the editor of the University of Akron Press Ohio History and Culture Series. While Ohio History is the primary focus of his work, he has also published articles and book chapters in areas as diverse as the history of anthropology, the history of American eugenics, and Monty Python studies(!). Kern is currently working on a book on Ohio and the development of American Football.
