Biography
Michael Sheng is a diplomatic historian specializing in the triangular relations among China, the United States, and the Soviet Union during the Cold War era. His Book, Battling Western Imperialism: Mao, Stalin, and the United States (Princeton 1997) and many articles in China Quarterly, Modern China, The Journal of Cold War Study, etc. focus on the role of ideology and personality in foreign policy process, unconventional in diplomatic historiography. He is also an expert on Mao and the history of Chinese communism. He taught World Civilizations: China and Japan, US History Survey, Modern China, Japan and the Pacific War, as well as China and the Cold War.
