The Economy 2013 event was held on Tuesday, March 19th at the Quaker Station by The University of Akron Finance Department in conjunction with the Finance Advisory Board. Guest panelists Richard A. Ciccarone, Managing Director and Chief Research Officer, McDonnell Investment Management, LLC; Barry R. James, CFA, CIC, President and Portfolio Manager, James Investment Research and President, James Advantage Funds; and Stuart Lichter, President and Chairman of the Board, Industrial Realty Group, LLC spoke to a group of 350+ people. The Moderator was Dr. James B. Thomson, Chair of the Finance Department.
During this event the Finance Advisory Board Economic Summit Awards were presented. The purpose of the Finance Advisory Board Economic Summit Awards Program is to: (1) promote and encourage students who show great promise for successful finance careers in business and government, (2) support the student recruitment efforts of the Department of Finance, and (3) maintain and improve the quality and reputation of Department of Finance programs by attracting excellent students.
A total of two (2) awards (one graduate student and one undergraduate student) were presented during the 2013 Economic Summit held on March 19th. Each award recipient received a Certificate of Recognition and a $2,000 check.
Faculty – Finance Department Faculty wrote a paper and submitted it to the Finance Advisory Board who chose one paper for a $3,500 Award.
