Today’s top workplaces understand the importance of building high performance teams. The University of Akron’s College of Business Human Resources (HR) Advisory Board and the Department of Management will present its seventh annual conference on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, called “Lessons in Teamwork” to help supervisors and workers understand how to best maximize the talents of their employee teams.
This year’s conference will be held in person at Quaker Station (135 S. Broadway St.) on the UA campus and will be simultaneously streamed online so that attendees can join the event virtually. The conference will follow all coronavirus health and safety guidelines provided by state and local authorities, and masks will be required for everyone attending in person.
Retired Rear Admiral Scott P. Moore will be the featured keynote speaker for the event. Moore served for 30 years as a SEAL leader and is a master of organizational leadership and team building. His operational experience includes leading over 2,000 SEAL teams in missions across the globe. Moore’s stories of teamwork in life and death situations inspire others, while his insights on how to recruit, train and equip teams that exceed expectations rally success. Moore’s insights prove he knows how to get things done and how to build a team that achieves objectives when failure is not an option. He shares stories about the most important factors—leadership, trust, and peak performance.
Moore and our panel of top business leaders will reveal their success stories of leading their teams. Our panelists use real life examples of their lessons in leadership.
The conference will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the public. Continental breakfast and a boxed lunch are included for those who attend in person. Faculty, staff and students are free, and members of the community are $50 ($35 if registered by Sept. 13). For more information or to register, visit uakron.edu/cba/hrab/.
