Assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid will be available from University of Akron financial aid experts at FAFSA Filing Sunday on Oct. 21 in Simmons Hall. The event begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public, including all area high school students and their parents as well as UA students.
The 2019-20 FAFSA is posted online at FAFSA.gov. Students will be using their 2017 income and tax information (and their parents, if applicable). All students should file the FAFSA, whether or not they think they will receive federal assistance. Students filing should include UA’s Federal School Code — 003123.
Some types of financial aid are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s important to file early. Filing a FAFSA not only gives students access to federal assistance, it allows schools and states to determine what assistance students are eligible to receive from them.
UA’s priority FAFSA deadline is Dec. 1. Filing by that date is required to be considered for certain need-based financial aid programs.
