Dr. Junpeng Wang selected for the 2024 Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award

Dr. Junpeng Wang, assistant professor of polymer science, was recently selected for the 2024 Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award from the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation.

The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program, renowned for supporting the research and teaching endeavors of exceptional early career faculty in the chemical sciences, has recognized the remarkable contributions of Dr. Junpeng Wang, assistant professor of polymer science at The University of Akron. The award acknowledges a substantial body of scholarly work achieved in the early stages of the recipient's career, coupled with a demonstrated commitment to education.

"The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award is an incredible honor that will encourage us to continue pursuing excellence in research, teaching, and outreach. I am grateful to my students and postdocs as their hard work makes this possible,” stated Wang. “A critical component of the award is for the dedication to undergraduate education, and I am very pleased to see that our effort in this regard gets recognized."

The award requires institutional nomination and is based on early career scholarship. Eligible applicants must be affiliated with U.S. academic institutions granting degrees in chemical sciences, hold full-time tenure-track positions focused on chemical sciences and be within their first six years of independent academic careers. Each institution may nominate only one candidate annually.

“Dr. Wang’s recognition as the recipient of the Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award reflects his outstanding contributions to both research and teaching. This award is highly competitive and clearly demonstrates his dedication and work ethic in the laboratory and classroom,” stated Dr. Craig Menzemer, dean of the College of Engineering and Polymer Science. “We congratulate Dr. Wang and look forward to the future as we continue to provide outstanding research and curriculum opportunities for our students at The University of Akron.”

This esteemed accolade includes an unrestricted research grant of $100,000, highlighting Wang's potential for ongoing exceptional contributions to both research and teaching.
