Support Keeps Coming for New Risk Management and Insurance Program
The College of Business Administration (CBA) has received a second grant to support the new Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program. The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation has awarded the CBA $22,500, which will be used for course development and materials to enhance coursework. The grant monies come from the Robert P. Ashlock Memorial Fund, which was established in memory of the former president and CEO of Assurex Global, an exclusive partnership of the world’s premier independent insurance agents and brokers.
“The finance department is incredibly grateful for the support from the Griffith Foundation for the new Risk Management and Insurance program. It shows the need and commitment to this type of education program by organizations in the industry,” noted Dr. Jill Bisco, Assistant Professor of Finance. “The new RMI degree program at The University of Akron, which launches this fall, will provide students the knowledge necessary to fill one of the nearly 29,000 open positions expected in the risk management and insurance industry in Ohio between now and 2024.”
The purpose of The Robert P. Ashlock Risk Management and Insurance Development program is to further the development of post-secondary risk management and insurance education by providing funds to develop new or expand existing academic programs.
