The University of Akron Press has published "Rave Reviews: The History of Akron's Tuesday Musical." This well-documented book profiles the individuals who founded, fostered and forwarded the organization.
The accomplishments of the all-women-managed Tuesday Musical, founded in 1887, are illustrated with photographs, newspaper stories, memorabilia and biographies. The volunteer organization, one of only a handful that have survived to this day, mirrors the story of Akron and its rubber industry as it dealt with world wars, financial upheavals, population increases and declines, and changing socioeconomic demographics.
