Online instruction now extended one additional week at start of spring term
Online instruction will now extend through the second week of the spring semester in an effort to protect the health and safety of students, faculty and staff.
The spring semester will begin online Monday, Jan. 11. Our goal is to return with in-person instruction on Monday, Jan. 25.
The decision to continue online instruction one additional week follows Summit County’s extension to Jan. 31 of the Stay at Home Health Advisory. The county continues to experience an increase in the number of SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) cases.
Some clinical labs -- which require personal protection equipment [PPE] at the standard of medical facilities, such as nursing, respiratory therapy, and speech language pathology/audiology -- are approved to begin in-person on Jan. 19.
At this time, campus will be open as planned on Jan. 4 with residence hall move-in beginning on Jan. 7. Food service, campus facilities and limited recreation will resume on Jan. 4. Student support services, such as tutoring, counseling, advising and accessibility, will continue to be available.
UA has been diligent to monitor cases and trends of COVID-19 since March 2020. The campus COVID Advisory Group, compiled of over 50 staff, faculty, and students, has continued to meet weekly and recommended these decisions to campus administration.
