Georgia and I enter the holidays most grateful of our opportunity to work with and learn from all of you. This is a University full of people with extraordinary creativity, energy and commitment to the most precious ideals of inquiry and pedagogy. It is a University that has kept its promises to individuals and the community for 150 years, and in return is fully supported by the community. We are excited to be part of its future.
We wish you festive and relaxing holidays, beginning with the all-campus holiday reception today from 3:30 – 5 p.m. in the Union Market area of the Jean Hower Taber Student Union. Georgia and I hope to see you there. Finally, I encourage us all to honor the spirit of this season through increased acts of benevolence toward one another, particularly those less fortunate. Society is better nourished by thousands of small kindnesses than by a handful of grand gestures.
Happy holidays, and best wishes for the new year!
