The Philosophy department offers courses on a variety of philosophical topics including, but not limited to, courses in Ethics, Logic, the History of Philosophy, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Law, and Philosophy of Science. Philosophy courses stress the development of generally applicable skills for critical thinking and critical writing, the analysis of texts, and the reconstruction and evaluation of arguments. More importantly, however, philosophy aims at enhancing one's understanding of oneself, one's values, the fundamental nature of the world, and the methods by which one should formulate and revise one's beliefs about these.
