About
Dr. Craig Menzemer holds the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from Lehigh University in Civil Engineering. His experience includes assignments as a field engineer in the heavy construction industry and as a senior technical specialist for Alcoa. He joined the faculty at the University of Akron in 1996 as an assistant professor of civil engineering, was promoted to associate professor in 2001 and professor in 2010. Dr. Menzemer is an expert in the fatigue and fracture of structural systems and materials, with research into ground transportation systems, bridges and lightly-damped structures. He has held several administrative roles including associate dean of the college of engineering beginning in 2010, interim dean in 2018 and dean in 2022. Dr. Menzemer currently serves as the Interim Chief Planning and Facilities Officer for the University.
