About
Dr. Andrew T. Goodrich was named Director of Athletics at The University of Akron on May 12, 2025.
Goodrich joined UA from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C., where he had served as vice president and director of athletics since 2022. During his three years at Gardner-Webb, Goodrich successfully installed a blueprint for student-athletes, coaches, and staff to develop a culture of competitive, civic, and academic excellence that led to unprecedented success. Under his direction, the Gardner-Webb athletics’ programs earned seven conference championships, seven Big South Conference Athlete of the Year award recipients, and five Big South Coach of the Year accolades.
Prior to arriving at Gardner-Webb, he served as Deputy Director of Athletics & Chief Marketing Officer at Syracuse University from 2018-2022. He helped negotiate a ten-year naming rights agreement for the JMA Wireless Dome and was a key figure in several major deals for the Orange athletics department.
Goodrich has a strong foundation of success at several stops, including roles at the University of South Florida, the University of Miami (Fla.), and Notre Dame.
A former student-athlete on the baseball diamond at Cumberland University of Lebanon, Tenn., Goodrich earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the school in 1999. He received an MBA in marketing management from Notre Dame and earned his doctorate in higher education administration from USF in 2015.
