Alumni testimonial
Melissa Gary
BS in Exercise Science in '10, MS in Exercise Physiology in '13
"As I reflect back on my time at Akron, what stands out the most is the quality of education that I received as well as the faculty and staff that provided that education. They are not only passionate about the field, but they are passionate about mentoring students and making sure each student excels. Exercise Science is a unique program that provides smaller classes to allow hands on teaching, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. This teaching style allowed my professors to get to know me during my time studying and helped me make connections in order to reach my specific professional goals. I was able to find a job that I was passionate about before graduating. Two years after completing my Master’s degree at UA, I am now the lead coordinator in developing my own Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Metro Health Hospital. Without the SSWE professors, curriculum and state-of-the-art equipment, I would not have the opportunities that are presented to me today. I encourage those of you who have a passion in the field to aggressively consider Akron. It is what I recognize to be the finest Exercise Science Program."
