Overview
Graduates of this program may earn state certification as an EMT-Paramedic, which will enable them to provide the highest level of emergency medical service available. These graduates will increase the pool of qualified paramedics available for both public and private emergency medical service providers in northeast Ohio.
The Emergency Medical Services Technology, Fire/Medic Option program offers both professional certification and a quality education. It not only goes beyond providing training required for certification, but it also recognizes the amount of learning associated with a Licensed Paramedic Program. Graduates of the program can earn state certification as an EMT-Paramedic, which will enable them to provide the highest level of emergency medical service available.
Admissions Requirements
Upon application and matriculation to the University and a concurrent presentation of an official paramedic transcript from an accredited EMS training facility with a graduation date of 1985 or thereafter, academic transfer credit will be awarded to individuals for certified paramedic education as part of the Emergency Medical Services Technology degree Fire/Medic option.

The AAS in Emergency Medical Services Technology offers both professional certification and education. Graduates of the Emergency Medical Services Technology – Fire/Paramedic option are prepared for high-demand careers as firefighter/paramedics, providing advanced life support and emergency response in fire departments, EMS agencies, and public safety organizations. This pathway also builds a strong foundation for advancement into leadership roles, specialized rescue teams, fire inspection, or continued education in fire science, emergency management, or healthcare.

Earn your firefighter certification through our accredited Fire Academy, built into your EMS degree pathway. Train with experienced professionals using real-world equipment and scenarios. For students over the age of 18 and who hold an Ohio Drivers License. Students get 12 block credits toward the EMS degree.
