What makes us human? The Cummings Center's National Museum of Psychology invites visitors of all ages to explore psychological science and our shared human experience. Interactive exhibits spotlight intelligence and personality, mental health care, sensation and perception, Stanley Milgram's obedience studies, the Stanford Prison Experiment, and more.

  • $5 - College ID & Children (under 18)
  • $20 - Family
  • $5/person - Groups of 10+
  • $3/person - with state-issued EBT card 
  • Free - University of Akron students, staff, & faculty (with valid ID)
  • Free - with a military ID card or veteran ID card

Food and drinks, including water bottles, are not permitted in the museum and galleries. Backpacks and large bags must be left with the Admissions Desk.

Admission includes entry to the Institute for Human Science and Culture located on the Cummings Center's 3rd and 4th floors. Learn more about the Institute.

Free visitor parking is available in the lot directly adjacent to our building, which includes four visitor spots and one accessible parking spot near the front door. Three additional free visitor spaces are available in Lot 30, on the corner of College & Market Streets.

Additional paid parking is available in Lot 30, as well as Lot 40 (on Mill Street, just a short walk from the Cummings Center). Visitors must scan the ParkMobile QR code and enter their vehicle license plate. Additional metered parking is available on College Street. Metered parking is $1/hour and is operated by the City of Akron via the Flowbird app.

The National Museum of Psychology welcomes groups and classes. The Museum is self-guided, but please contact us to schedule a group visit.

Interested in an onsite activity? We offer a self-guided scavenger hunt activity, as well as a comprehensive Educator's Guide.

Additionally, we offer a variety of specialized guided tours and workshops for group visitors. These tours and workshops must be scheduled in advance, and are dependent on staff availability.

A wheelchair accessible ramp is located on the northeast side of the building, near the main entrance. The museum is housed on the ground floor, and an interior elevator provides access to the Institute galleries, located on the 3rd and 4th floors. A wheelchair is also kept on-site and is available for loan to those visiting the museum and archives.
