The e-CHUG (electronic Check-Up to Go) is an interactive Web survey that allows college and university students to enter information about their drinking patterns and receive feedback about their use of alcohol. The assessment takes about six to seven minutes to complete, is self-guided, and requires no face-to-face contact time with a counselor or administrator. No information that would identify you is required for e-CHUG.
When you access the e-CHUG, you are prompted to enter information about yourself. In addition to demographic information, you will be asked for information about your drinking habits and family history. You will also be asked to complete the World Health Organization's AUDIT.
After all information has been entered, you submit the form. The information you entered is then validated and processed. The e-CHUG calculates a number of variables and compares your responses to national and local college norms. Then your personalized feedback is displayed in an easy-to-read format.
The only requirement to use e-CHUG is that you must have a UAnet ID and password to start the program.
Yes. Your e-CHUG results are confidential, and there is no way for anyone but you to see your results. The only reason you are using your UAnet ID and password is so that only University of Akron persons can access the site. Nothing that can identify you is being recorded.
You can run e-CHUG from anywhere you have Web access. The link below will take you there.
e-CHUG is brought to you by the Counseling and Testing Center. The Center is staffed with full-time psychologists who provide confidential counseling to University of Akron students free of charge. If there is anything you would like to discuss with one of the psychologists, call 330-972-7082 to make an appointment. The Center is located in Simmons Hall 306.
If you are completing e-CHUG as a sanction from the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards and will be attending the Discussing Our Choices (DOC) program, please ensure you print the Feedback Report and Output Summary. These must be brought to the DOC meeting in order to be admitted.
If you are completing e-CHUG as a class assignment, please ensure you print the Feedback Report and Output Summary and bring these to the class presentation.
