EDUCATION ABROAD

Faculty-Led Short-Term Programs Abroad

Expand your horizons by taking a UA class that is a global experience!

Our current options are below.

Faculty Organizers will set deadlines, hold info sessions, collect payments, and confirm students meet requirements to Study Abroad.

Before you depart

  1. Complete the Student Conduct Study Abroad Release form
  2. Health & Emergency Information form
  3. Program Participation Agreement and Release and Waiver of Liability form
  4. Consult with the UA Financial Aid Office if needed
  5. Register with STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program)

Prepare to travel abroad

1. Passport & visa

Your FIRST STEP is to apply for your passport. Processing times have increased due to covid. Expect up to 18 weeks for routine service and 12 weeks for expedited service. Check the U.S. government travel site for more details on applying and wait times.

  • If you already have your passport, check its date. Generally passports should be valid (not expired) for at least six months beyond the date of your anticipated return to the U.S.
  • If a visa is required for entry to your destination, the faculty director will provide guidance on how to obtain the visa.

2. Health insurance

Find out about the insurance you will have to purchase on the Insurance FAQ page.

3. Check for scholarship opportunities

There are a variety of scholarship opportunities for students wishing to study abroad.

4. Check additional resources

There are a number of additional resources that can be helpful to students planning to study abroad.

Note for Non-UA students

For students from another institution outside of UA that will be participating in a UA faculty-led program, make sure to keep in touch with the faculty leader for any additional steps you might have to take.
