Construction Engineering Technology Bachelor’s Degree
The B.S. in Construction Engineering Technology degree program includes classroom, laboratory and industry experiences to prepare students for careers in construction.
Graduates from this program work with owners and architects to transform conceptual ideas into functioning systems. Typical graduate positions involve construction supervision, construction testing, construction inspecting, and construction scheduling and estimating for public and private companies.
Degree Highlights
- Co-op program provides paid, flexible, industry experience and is a great way to earn money while getting experience. For the CET program, co-op is required.
- Learn the latest in construction technology including building information modeling (BIM), advanced construction materials, eco-friendly construction materials, and even 3-D printed homes.

Admission Requirements
All students who meet the minimum requirements for admittance into The University of Akron and intend to major in construction engineering technology are accepted into the College.
If you are coming directly from high school, your high school records determine which first semester classes are right for you.
Career Opportunities
Individuals working in the field of construction engineering technologies use knowledge of construction methods, business operations and management skills to support construction projects. They work on residential or commercial buildings, bridges, roads, dams, and wastewater treatment systems.
Recent UA grads with a B.S. in Construction Engineering Technology have been placed at companies including Ohio Department of Transportation, Great Lakes Construction and Environmental Design Group.
