Why Community-Engaged Learning?
We believe that learning thrives when it’s grounded in real-world contexts. Through our community-engaged programs, students build valuable skills, deepen their connection to Akron, and contribute to sustainable community growth.
[Un]classes: break the mold of a traditional class by being unscripted, transdisciplinary, community-engaged courses that lead to real-world impact.
Akron Community Internship Program (ACIP): connects UA students with community partners for practical experience and deeper engagement with Akron.
Student-Driven Initiatives: Empowering students to lead projects that address local needs, develop leadership skills, and create positive change.
Community-Engaged Course Funding: Available for full- or part-time faculty and professional staff that teach high impact, community-engaged classes.
