Biography
Julie M. Aultman, PhD, is a clinical ethicist and Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine, Northeast Ohio Medical University, where she teaches and researches a variety of topics in bioethics and medical humanities. Dr. Aultman is the Director for the Bioethics Certificate Program and Chair of the Institutional Board. Currently, she is developing a Master's degree program in Medical Ethics and Humanities with two distinct tracks and a variety of Certificate options. She holds a doctorate in philosophy with a concentration in healthcare ethics and a specialization in cognitive science from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI (2000-2003) and a Master’s degree in bioethics from Case Western Reserve University , Cleveland, Ohio (1999-2000). Her research interests extend to psychiatric ethics, healthcare justice, international studies in healthcare systems and community based rehabilitation programs, and moral and professional development in medical education. Along with Delese Wear, she is editor of Professionalism in Medicine: Critical Perspectives, New York: Springer, 2006. She has presented and published nationally and internationally.
