Distinguished guest speakers
Between the IP Center and the student-led Intellectual Property & Technology Law Association (IPTLA), Akron Law hosts 8-10 guest lectures or panels each year. The IPTLA events are typically “Lunch & Learn” sessions where food is provided.
Albert and Vern Oldham Intellectual Property Law Lectures
The annual fall and spring Albert and Vern Oldham Intellectual Property Law Lectures typically feature a prominent out-of-town IP scholar as the guest speaker. The endowed series is named in memory of the brothers and Akron Law alumni who founded the highly successful patent law firm Oldham & Oldham in 1947. The endowment was made possible in 1990 by Albert’s son, Edwin W. (Ned) Oldham, and other members of the firm, which Ned Oldham led for many years. He also IP law taught at Akron for 20 years and was instrumental in founding the IP Center.
