What will I learn?
The Bachelors in General Studies gives you the freedom to shape your degree around your passions and career goals. While meeting general education requirements, you’ll explore a wide range of subjects that reflect your unique interests and ambitions.
The program follows the general education guidelines while also allowing students to exhibit intellectual interest across a broad range of college-level coursework.
Upon completion of this degree, students will have the following skills.
- Communication Skills: Communicate with clarity of purpose, depth, and precision so that one may advance professionally or apply to graduate programs.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrate critical thinking and synthesis by integrating and applying specialized knowledge.
- Ethics and Societal Awareness: Demonstrate an ethical mindset and exercise professional responsibility in a social context.
- Organizational Skills: Develop and meet goals, engage in self-directed learning, and adapt to change (new approaches, methods, and technologies).
Curriculum
This program is designed for students with diverse college backgrounds and varied educational interests that cannot be captured in a single degree program. Students have the opportunity to experiment in a variety of academic subjects through a generous number of free electives. The degree is an excellent fit for students who have accumulated a significant number of college credits but have yet to find a clear path to degree completion.
Students must complete:
- General Education Coursework: 36 credits
- Focus Area Credits: 30 credits (15 credits must be in a primary concentration).
- GNST 400 Senior Capstone : 3 credits
- Elective credits: 51 credits
- Total hours much reach 120 credits.
