New YES Design
Checkout the New YES Design and review what the page templates will look like and the Widgets/Components that are available and summaries.
Review the Spreadsheet for UA Main or Wayne College to identify the priority pages that need to be created or rebuilt. Each spreadsheet includes links to the submitted content worksheets and a field for you to indicate the status of each page’s rebuild.
Spreadsheets are aligned to the Sitemap for UA Main and for Wayne College. Both are based of the new mega menu and top utility navigation that priority pages will be linked from.
Best-in-Class Pages
Creating a New Pages
Rather than starting from scratch with the UA website, we're going to create new pages with temporary names and saved in existing folders.
During this process, refer to your Content Worksheet(s) for selecting the correct template and to copy and paste your content into the new widgets. If you need a new content worksheet download based on the page template desired.
Example: Recreating a page with a file name of "index.dot", the new page will have a temporary name of "index2.dot" or “index2yes.dot.”
(For the Page Title, refer to the Title on your content worksheet.)
New Template Step-by-Step Instructions
Relating Content
For content that will be pulled to a central page with a Plug-in - like Profiles or academic Program details - you'll instead:
- Create Related content first (like Cards or Checkerboards), if applicable - saving and noting the names.
- Use the Content | Search and select the type of content you'll be adding.
- Use the Worksheet as guide, create a new content item and fill in your information.
- Relate the additional content as needed.
- Save and Publish your new content.

Save, But Do Not Publish
During this rebuild process, we'll want to Save but not Publish - our new pages with temporary names. More details on Saving and Publishing (and Unpublishing) are in the Terminology guide.
Rename Pages for Launch
Unless a page (or image or document...) has a link pointing to it, it's effectively hidden. By renaming our pages, we can change what is visible on the UA website.
Rename the current page to an "archive" name and Save/Publish.
Rename the new page - with the temporary name - to the name of the current page and Save/Publish.
This makes the new page the one that people will see on the main website - without updating all the links that point to it.
Friday, March 27 is the deadline for Phase 1 priority page rebuilds. In the sitemap spreadsheet, please update your page status and mark it “Complete” once finished. Be sure to also include the page path in the "Temporary Page URL" column (e.g., /bcas/index_yes, /rec/adventure/index2.dot).
Review Timeline
- March 30 – April 13: Completed priority pages will be reviewed by the web team
- Feedback will be provided (approved or edits recommended), followed by final approval
- April 14 – 24: Phase 1 go‑live preparation
Any adjustments to this timeline will be communicated to stakeholders.
Phase 2
Phase 2 of the YES Website Redesign is a comprehensive migration of all decentralized departments onto the YES brand design system — with a completion deadline of August 24, 2027.
The folder audit process will be a full departmental migration onto YES branded templates, replacing all legacy page designs.
- Review all pages giving priority to most viewed high-level pages and determine if the content is relevant, outdated, can be condensed, or added to another page.
- Flag pages to either KEEP, UNPUBLISH, or ARCHIVE
- For all KEEP pages, decide on a template and appropriate content widgets. Reference the widget/component doc to determine the right widget for your content.
- Follow the steps for creating a temporary YES page, selecting a template and adding your content widgets based on your worksheet.
- Ensure all images/photos are optimized before uploading, named appropriately, and ALT TEXT added after uploaded.
- Confirm Friendly Name is updated properly [need more instructions]
- Once the YES page is completed and approved, follow steps of renaming the legacy page, publishing the YES page, and unpublishing the legacy page.
- If you desire a Hero image, please send your request to web-team@lists.uakron.edu and the webteam will add.
Since consolidating pages could mean some broken links, all departments should frequently review their “Optimize broken links report” in case changes on connected sites impact existing links. Please contact the webteam if you need access.
Identify 6-8 high-level departments without editors and schedule meetings to walk content owners through the folder audit process. Folder audit process shared with all users. Departments with capable/super users will begin the migration process and check in with webteam on progress.
