Virtual Lab: Access University applications from anywhere, anytime
Using Horizon Virtual Desktop technology, The University of Akron has expanded lab access for some computer applications to all students and faculty. This “always-on” environment means you can access these programs at any time using any device anywhere you can get internet access.
Direct Access to the Virtual Lab
First time user?
All current students should have access to the labs. If you don’t or you are a faculty/staff member without access please call (330) 972-6888 or email the helpdesk helpdesk@uakron.edu .
Update: So What's Different?
The University of Akron Virtual Lab is now located in the University of Akron Data Center. An on premise Virtual Lab will help reduce costs while opening up the potential for additional software titles and functionality that was previously unavailable. Information Technology Services will continue to make additional software titles available as soon as licensing agreements are signed allowing ITS to virtualize the applications.
New features available now:
- The ability for students to save data to their Google Cloud Drive via the browser as well as local client drive as before in the previous Virtual Lab Implementation
- Everyone will be able to access the virtual lab via an iPad or Android Tablet
- AutoDesk 2017 software will be available in the Engineering Pool
The labs.uakron.edu portal page has a different look to it. For more information on signing in and connecting to a virtual machine please see the link below on Connecting to the Virtual Lab.
